Abstract

One of the affluent sources of strong natural fiber from the plant kingdom is Vetiveria Zizanioides and it has plentiful properties such as antimicrobial property and inherently filled with good aroma. Vetiver root powder was converted in the form of solution by using ethanol solvent and the extract was coated in the cotton fabric that gives good aroma to the wearer. The intensity of the vetiver fragrance was tested for both vetiver solution and vetiver extract coated fabric by identifying the absorbance and concentration of the fragrance using UV Spectrophotometer. The test results shows that the fragrance release rate was found to be moderately low in vetiver extract coated fabric than the vetiver solution.
