Human Resource Management (HRM) has evolved from a predominantly administrative function into a strategic partner that shapes organizational performance, culture, and long-term sustainability. In an era marked by rapid technological change, globalization, shifting workforce expectations, and skill volatility, traditional HR approaches based on intuition and retrospective analysis are increasingly inadequate. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force capable of addressing these challenges by enabling data-driven, predictive, and personalized HR practices. This chapter examines the role of Artificial Intelligence in redefining Human Resource Management across the entire employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, engagement, workforce planning, and retention. By leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning, and intelligent decision-support systems, AI enables HR professionals to move from reactive problem-solving to proactive and strategic workforce management. The chapter also highlights how AI supports evidence-based decision-making, enhances efficiency, improves fairness, and enables personalized employee experiences in diverse and distributed work environments. At the same time, it critically examines the ethical, legal, and social implications of AI adoption in HRM, including concerns related to algorithmic bias, data privacy, transparency, accountability, and employee trust. The changing role of HR professionals in the AI era is explored, emphasizing the need for data literacy, ethical governance, and human–AI collaboration. Overall, the chapter argues that AI should be viewed not as a replacement for human judgment but as an enabler that augments human capabilities. When implemented responsibly, Artificial Intelligence has the potential to strengthen HRM as a strategic, ethical, and human-centered function that enhances both organizational effectiveness and employee well-being in the evolving world of work.
