Abstract

School administration and management play a critical role in shaping the effectiveness, quality, and sustainability of educational institutions. As schools face increasing complexity due to growing student populations, heightened accountability requirements, resource constraints, and rising stakeholder expectations, traditional administrative practices based on manual processes and fragmented digital tools have become insufficient. In this context, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force capable of redefining school governance and operational management.
This chapter examines the role of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing school administration and management by enabling automation, data-driven decision-making, and strategic planning. It explores how AI technologies are applied across key administrative domains, including student admissions and records management, attendance monitoring, staff recruitment and human resource management, academic planning and timetable optimization, financial management, resource utilization, communication, and stakeholder engagement. By integrating machine learning, data analytics, automation, and natural language processing, AI systems reduce administrative workload, improve accuracy, strengthen transparency, and support proactive institutional planning.
The chapter further highlights the contribution of AI-powered decision support systems in enabling evidence-based leadership, predictive analysis, and long-term strategic development. At the same time, it critically addresses ethical, legal, and operational challenges related to data privacy, algorithmic bias, digital equity, and human accountability. Emphasizing the continued importance of human judgment, ethical leadership, and institutional values, the chapter positions AI as a collaborative tool rather than a replacement for educational administrators.
Overall, the chapter argues that responsible and human-centered integration of Artificial Intelligence can significantly enhance the efficiency, responsiveness, and effectiveness of school administration, contributing to improved governance, institutional sustainability, and learner-centered educational environments.
