Abstract

The study investigates the Middle Himalayan region, particularly Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, which encounters winter snowfall predominantly over the course of January to March, maximum in month of January. However, early December 2024, registered an uncommon moment of early season snowfall in Shimla after decades. The event uplifted curiosity towards investigation of atmospherically causes and conditions which led this kind of uncommon occasion. Research statistically analyzes historical data of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh (1940-2024) which comprises hourly, monthly and yearly meteorological data values. In addition, the study takes in consideration of atmospheric drivers, like wind and pressure pattern in encoding the early-season snowfall above particular region.
